Don’t think of your blog site as anything more than a website, technically speaking that is. When you create a website you have your domain (EX. kristimfreeman.com) and you also have a host. In this case, my host is GoDaddy. This is called self-hosting. There’s a small monthly fee that doesn’t break the bank.
Because I chose to have my blog on my website using WordPress that is hosted by GoDaddy, I was able to get everything done in one place. It’s almost turnkey, you just have to come up with images and content.
I highly recommend this method because you own your domain and your blog. You can choose a free sites that will host for you (even WordPress) but you do not own your blog and you won’t get a cool ass domain name. They’re still easy to use and pretty turnkey with lots of templates and stock images, but wouldn’t you rather own the rights to your creative material?
